I know the science
I am a member of the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) because I love learning and sticking to a national standard of professional development. I regularly attend over 30 hours of conferences every year because I want to win. I go to advanced-level seminars that bring together experienced practitioners who share tips and other pointers that help me gain the “edge” over the prosecutor (and, sometimes the judge). Some of these seminars include: the three day advanced trial skills summer program of the NCDD at Harvard Law School in July; Mastering Scientific Evidence in DUI/DWI Cases is an extremely advanced level national seminar on the science of DUI cases; America’s most popular DUI Seminar put on by the NCDD and the NACDL in Las Vegas for three half day sessions.
I know the lawyers
I watch other expert DUI defense attorneys try cases. I learn from what other skilled attorneys are doing outside of Georgia. I buy and read books and newsletters about DUI defense. I read books written for prosecutors because I want to learn the other side’s battle strategy. I order audio and videotapes of top-level seminars that I can’t go to.
I know the experts
I’m friends with the top expert witnesses, medical doctors, investigators, former police officers, and former prosecutors. So, I am a DUI specialist. We have forensic help from our community of drunk driving experts. We use an accident reconstruction expert for crashes in our DUI cases. We may win your case by demonstrating that outside elements, such as defective roadway, lighting conditions, or other causes (rain, snow, ice, sun light, etc.) led to the accident – not alcohol.
